An Interview with Sir Kyffin Williams

In the latest treasure unearthed in the bottomless vault of online videos, Wales Arts Review presents an excerpt from HTV’s Artists series, in which Sir Kyffin Williams recalls his journey in 1968 to record the people, animals and landscape of Patagonia.

“…I had a feeling in a way I had got the fellowship under false pretences as I told the committee I was going to ride four hundred and fifty miles across the desert from the dyffryn canwy in the east up into the Andes and they thought this was really Chruchillean stuff, and they gave me the fellowship; of course when I got down there they all said I was quiet mad to try and ride across the desert and of course they were very sensible as had I done so I wouldn’t have been able to do much drawing.”
