Gower Festival 2015 July 1st – 12 www.gowerfestival.org
The Gower Festival has brought exceptional music to Gower for almost forty years. Held in many small, stone built churches sprinkled throughout the Gower Peninsula, we welcome top quality international performers. Our concerts are a unique experience and provide inspiration for both artists and audience.
The Festival is mainly classical and in 2015, stars such as Emma Johnson, “Britain’s favourite clarinettist”, and Dame Emma Kirkby, recipient of the Queen’s Medal for Music, will be performing. The world famous London Brass Ensemble, outstanding young pianist Alexandra Dariescu and the Swansea Bach Choir are also featured.
New for 2015 will be an evening of favourite music by Glenn Miller-‘In the Mood’, ‘Moonlight Serenade’ and ‘String of Pearls’ amongst many others, played by a full big band with singers. The classical guitarist Morgan Szymanski also returns and was immensly popular last time.
The Festival is always keen to give a platform to young talent. This summer we have a concert from the brilliant stars of Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester as well as a performance by the top Prizewinning youngsters selected by the Abertawe Festival for Young Musicians.
It is interesting how many artists who have performed in previous Festivals have gone on
to major international careers, such as pianists Llŷr Williams, Ji Liu, Boris Giltburg and the Belcea and Henschel Quartets. We have also been successful in attracting stars like Michala Petri, Carlo Curley and Karl Jenkins.
