Framed object assemblages created by gifts, referrals and random encounters in the cities situated along the M4 corridor.
The process involves participants giving away to the assemblage an object possession and then writing out, directions for the next location and person, or “pocket” to be visited in a particular city. The trail of referrals from person to person continues in any particular city until at least 25 objects from 25 referrals have been collected. The objects are then incorporated into a final, framed collage and an account of the journeys is kept on a website (www.artrospektive.com).
The journey was started in Bristol five years ago and now that the final M4 city of London has been completed, the whole M4 collection is being shown in public spaces in each of the cities visited so that participants and anyone else who’s interested can come by and have a look.
Visit Swansea Civic Centre from 17 October to 14 November 2016 to view all the completed assemblages and to follow the stories and trails of random referrals through the various cities.
