RS Thomas Literary Festival

The theme of the 2016 Festival in the coastal village of Aberdaron, is A Convergence of Creativity exploring the influence of art forms on Wales’ greatest 20th Century poet, and how he influenced and continues to influence other artists today.

Presentations from Rev. Dr John McEllhenney, Pennsylvania, Author of ‘Masterwork of Doubting-Belief: RS Thomas & Poetry; Profs. Tony Brown & Jason Walford Davies of the RS Thomas Study Centre, Bangor University; Richard Parry of The Coleridge in Wales Touring Festival; Gwydion Thomas, son of the two famous artists.

Exhibiton of local artists ‘Seeing the Poems’ created in response to poetry.

‘Songs to the Sea’ candlelight concert in St Hywyn’s church on the shore of the Irish Sea. Saxophonist Kitty & composer pianist Dave Jones are inspired by the poetry of RS Thomas and Wales’ Coast

Plus ‘Fish Chips and Poetry Please’ open mike poetry reading; ‘Walking in The Footsteps of RS THomas’ reading the poetry in the landscape that inspired the poetry.
