W. H. Davies, A Man of Many Faces

A film by Newport historians Monty and Tom Dart.
Using archive material and the poet’s own words the film looks at the fascinating life of W. H. Davies, Newport poet, best known for the first two lines of his poem ‘Leisure’ – ‘What is this life if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare’. He was enigmatic, a man of myth and legend – and genuine misunderstandings, named a ‘Super Tramp’ by George Bernard Shaw for his adventures both in this country and abroad.
A question and answer session with the film makers will occur after the event.
A bar will be provided.
