Arts Council of Wales has announced that the Freelands Foundation has contributed £0.5million to support the Urgent Response Fund for Individuals, bringing the Council’s total allocated funding for artists and freelance creative practitioners to £2million. The fund is an important part of the Arts Council’s overall support to the country’s creative community during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The news comes in the week that applications closed for the first round of the Fund, with over 280 artists applying for support. The next round of opens for applications on Tuesday 28 April 2020.
The Urgent Response Fund for Individuals is for freelance creative practitioners who are experiencing financial hardship or loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is short‑term emergency funding to enable individuals to survive financially and creatively.
The Fund helps individuals to meet their most urgent financial needs while they explore the potential help available from Government schemes or from other ways of sustaining their activities.
The Urgent Response Fund is a strand of the Arts Resilience Fund, set-up by Arts Council of Wales with the Welsh Government, funding from the National Lottery and contributions from Tŷ Cerdd and Literature Wales. With the Freelands Foundation’s contribution to the Urgent Response Fund, the overall value of the Arts Resilience Fund increases to over £7.5m.
Arts Council of Wales wants to give organisations the best chance of surviving the COVID 19 emergency and support organisations to get back on their feet and help them to sustain themselves through the coming months.
Heddiw mae Cyngor Celfyddydau Cymru yn cyhoeddi bod Sefydliad Freelands wedi cyfrannu £0.5 miliwn i gefnogi’r gronfa ymateb brys y Cyngor i unigolion. Erbyn hyn y cyfanswm sydd yn y gronfa i artistiaid ac ymarferwyr creadigol llawrydd yw £2 miliwn. Mae‘r gronfa yn rhan bwysig o gefnogaeth gyffredinol y Cyngor i’r gymuned greadigol yn ystod coronafeirws.
Yr wythnos yma hefyd y daeth ceisiadau i ben i rownd gyntaf y gronfa, gyda dros 280 o artistiaid yn ymgeisio. Bydd y rownd nesaf yn agor ddydd Mawrth 28 Ebrill 2020.
Mae’r gronfa ymateb brys i unigolion ar gyfer ymarferwyr creadigol llawrydd sy’n profi caledi ariannol neu’n colli incwm oherwydd coronafeirws. Mae hwn yn arian brys yn y tymor byr i alluogi unigolion i oroesi’n ariannol ac yn greadigol.
Mae’r gronfa’n helpu unigolion i ddiwallu eu hanghenion ariannol mwyaf tra byddant yn chwilio am gymorth posibl o’r Llywodraeth neu am ffyrdd eraill o gynnal eu gweithgarwch.
Mae’r gronfa ymateb brys yn elfen o gronfa Wytnwch y Celfyddydau a sefydlodd y Cyngor gyda Llywodraeth Cymru gydag arian o’r Loteri Genedlaethol a chyfraniadau gan Dŷ Cerdd a Llenyddiaeth Cymru. Gyda chyfraniad Sefydliad Freelands bydd gwerth cyffredinol y gronfa wytnwch i’r celfyddydau yn cyrraedd dros £7.5 miliwn.
Mae’r Cyngor am roi’r cyfle gorau i sefydliadau oroesi coronafeirws a darparu cefnogaeth iddynt ymsefydlogi a chynnal eu busnes yn ystod y misoedd nesaf.
