Lleucu Siencyn Moves on from Literature Wales

Lleucu Siencyn will be stepping down as CEO of Literature Wales to take on the appointment of Director of Arts Development at Arts Council of Wales.

Siencyn succeeds Sian Tomos who stepped down from the role in September last year – Siencyn  is expected to begin her new role in May 2022. Announcing the news on Twitter, Siencyn wrote:

I’m looking forward to joining @Arts_Wales in this exciting role and so grateful for the amazing opportunity to advocate for the arts. I’m also extremely grateful to the incredibly talented @LitWales team for their friendship and support over the years. Diolch bawb!”

Siencyn formally took on the role of CEO of literature Wales back in 2011 where she worked towards Literature Wales’ mission to “inspire communities, develop writers and celebrate the literary culture of Wales”.

Welcoming Siencyn into her new role at the Arts Council, Phil George said: We are delighted to have been able to appoint Lleucu to this key post with the Arts Council of Wales’s Senior Leadership team. She is passionate about the arts in all their diversity and is strongly committed to widening our engagement with communities across Wales, including the particular responsibility to develop activity in the Welsh language. Lleucu will continue Sian’s excellent previous work as a partnership builder and a strong advocate for the arts in Wales’’

Siencyn responded: “The Arts Council of Wales’s core belief that the arts are for the benefit of all is one that chimes strongly with me. Its work and its principles are important, especially in the field of arts and health, climate emergency, widening engagement, developing a new Welsh language strategy, and its international focus. I look forward to progressing these principles for the people and communities of Wales and assist the Arts Council of Wales to deliver its mission of making the arts central to the life and well-being of the nation.”
