With election week coming up, and our 2021 Senedd Election series nearly complete, we’ve put together a Wales Arts Review playlist with songs for the ballot box. Whether you’re voting by mail or in person, we’ve compiled twenty songs from artists including Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Weyes Blood, Phoebe Bridgers, Blood Orange, and many more.
On 6th May, people across Wales will head to their local polling station to vote for the next Welsh government. It’s the first time 16- and 17-year-olds can vote too, and the sixth election since the dawn of devolution in 1999. You can read more about the election and what the leaders of the main political parties had to say about their vision for the arts and culture sector in our spotlight series.
Keep your eyes peeled for more themed playlists from Wales Arts Review in coming weeks, from cinemas reopening to vaccine milestones, we’ll be sharing playlists to celebrate a gradual return to life amidst the pandemic.

Wales Arts Review works to bring our readers the best critical writing from Wales, and the best critical writing about Wales. It is a place where passionate and informed arts critics, from Wales and beyond, can find expression. Our writers are neither drum-beaters nor axe-grinders but simply knowledgeable and dedicated people who care deeply about culture and society.
Founded in March 2012, Wales Arts Review is a media platform where a new generation of critics and arts lovers can meet to engage in a robust and inclusive discussion about books, theatre, film, music, the visual arts, politics, and the media.
We believe that a vibrant arts scene is the expression of a confident, healthy and creative society. We further assert that a flourishing and vigorous critical culture is vital to its sustenance and development. As such, we regard Wales Arts Review as an important building-block in the new outward-looking, forward-thinking Wales.
