Introducing Video of the Week from Wales Arts Review. We’ll be showcasing some of the best new art in Wales with a new video shared every week. From music to drama and everything in between, videos will not be limited by medium. Today we take a look at “Fuzzy” from Bandicoot.
This Friday, we’re taking a look at the brand new music video for ‘Fuzzy’ from Swansea four-piece Bandicoot, a follow up to the band’s debut release with record label Libertino, ‘Dark Too Long’. The band have described the record as “a deranged attempt at seduction which draws on ’70s ‘Top of the Pops’, glam rock and memories of misguided adolescence”.
Featuring a one-shot take of Bandicoot, the video captures a certain brand of retro nostalgia. Replete with patent leather jackets and cherry red guitars, Bandicoot are channelling the joyous energy of music eras since passed.
Speaking of the record, the band have commented: “Fuzzy is a strutting statement of intent, fizzing with energy, rolling relentlessly on. It captures the energy that we’re bursting with, cooped up in our homes, awaiting the return to the stage. And a triumphant, ferocious return it will be.” Elaborating on the music video, Bandicoot said: “Filmed in our back garden in one take, it captures the rawness and frantic energy of Fuzzy. It felt appropriate to film the video where the song itself was born, at the scene of many a wayward night.”
